The newspaper reported on the murder of Seth Nyakio, his daughter MCA Kirinyaga County nominee Lucy Njeri.

The nominated MCA recalled his last conversation with his daughter on October 12 when he was leaving their home in Kamakis to visit a friend.

Njeri said the 23-year-old girl was very happy that day of the disaster. “My daughter told me that she was going to visit a friend in Biafra, Thikabut he would need to contact her to sleep through the night. He and I were close and we kept nothing from each other,” Njeri said.

The nominated MCA revealed that he spoke to his daughter on Saturday, October 12, around 9pm, and told her that everything was fine.

“We talked for a few minutes at 9pm and he told me that he was safe. We talked again several times on Sunday morning. But I couldn't reach him on the phone when I tried to call him in the evening,” he said.

2. The Standard

The publication reported on the alleged bribery of two Senators who support the ousted Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

Senator of Nets John Methu and his Kiambu counterpart Karungo wa Thang'wa claimed that there was a lot of influence behind the scenes to influence the outcome of the impeachment process in the Senate.

Methu claimed that there was unprecedented influence, which also involved a large amount of money, up to Sh10 million, to vote for the removal of Gachagua at the cost of a fair trial.

“I don't think that Sh10 million can change much in the lives of some people, but for some of us, we managed justice and again, our people who elected us should come first before other things. If money can be used to betray people or if someone can vote for impeachment to protect private business, does that mean that those things are bigger than the people who elected you and put you in that position?” Methu posed.

3. Nation Today

A Kiswahili newspaper reported on the protest of the sacked deputy president Rigathi Gachagua at the hearing of political parties.

In a letter of protest sent to the Deputy Registrar General of the Judiciary, Gachagua accused the three-judge panel of bias.

Gachagua questioned how the case seeking to stop his removal from the Senate was presented to a three-judge bench consisting of judges Eric Ogolla, Anthony Mrima, and Dr Fred Mugambi without instructions from Chief Justice Martha Koome.

The former Mathira threatened to make an official complaint to the Judicial Service Commission, demanding an investigation into the matter.

“There are initial indications that the Chief Justice was not even in the country at the relevant time. For this reason, an official complaint is submitted to the Judicial Service Commission,” the letter read.
