Rigathi Gachaguaknown for his commitment to the Kenya First manifesto, previously shared photos of himself waking up at 11am to go to the office, even in the rain, before he was removed from office as deputy president.
What did Gachagua say about his early waking schedule?
In an April 2023 post, he expressed his admiration for Kenyans who struggle to get to work despite the challenges of the weather, showing their perseverance.
“It's eleven o'clock. As I was driving through town this morning on my way to work, I was amazed at the patience of the people of Kenya. Despite heavy rains, Kenyans are walking quickly to work as drivers struggle with traffic jams and drainage challenges,” he said.
Gachagua made these comments after weeks of nationwide protests where thousands of Kenyans marched against the high cost of living and alleged fraud in the 2022 elections.
The protests, which left at least three people dead, 400 injured, and several businesses looted, were marred by violence.
Gachagua stressed that law breakers would be taken action immediately and prosecuted, while also noting that the economy started to show signs of improvement.
“With the removal of protests and violence, I urge all Kenyans to return to work and resume their businesses with diligence and efficiency. Knowing that thugs who were prepared to take advantage of the chaos to steal and loot may still intend to continue, our security officers are on alert. and quite ready,” he added.

The senators found him guilty on five of the 11 charges filed by the Kibwezi Member of Parliament WestMwengi Mutuse, who presented a motion to remove him from power.
Mutuse expressed his satisfaction after the Senate supported the National Assembly's decision remove Gachagua from power despite the detailed legal investigation presented by Gachagua's team of lawyers.
