On Monday, October 21, the national newspapers reported extensively on the disclosure of the deputy president Rigathi Gachagua about his conflict with President William Ruto.
Daily newspapers also reported President Ruto's remarks during the Mashujaa Day celebrations.
1. Daily Nation
The publication reported how security officers allegedly raided Rigathi Gachagua's hotel room on August 30 during his visit to Nyanza region.
On the night of August 30, former deputy president Gachagua went to the Acacia Premier Hotel in the city Poisonous and have a long meeting with a member of parliament from the Rift Valley region.
What Gachagua did not know was that some people who were away from his room were supposed to get minute-by-minute information about the presidential debates.
This conversation is reported to be recorded now in the middle of the dispute between Gachagua and William Ruto.
After the visit to Nyanza and the emergence of the secret talks, the relationship between the Deputy President and Ruto was so bad that the following week, the helicopter carrying Gachagua was allegedly returned to Nairobi shortly after landing in Kirinyaga.
Some of the leaders who tried to reconcile the two said the secret tapes were the reason why Ruto reportedly refused to pardon his deputy.
Gachagua, who spoke when he was released from Karen Hospital, claimed that officers of the National Intelligence Service came to his room in Kisumu on August 30.
2. The Standard
The newspaper reported on President William Ruto's indirect attack on his former deputy, Rigathi Gachagua.
In his Veterans Day speech on Sunday, October 20, the president spoke strongly against tribalism.
He stressed that any attempt to exclude, alienate, or deny rights to any person, group or community is against nationalism.
Without naming names, Ruto said Kenyans have an inalienable right to a full, fair and just share of the country's resources.
The head of state called on Kenyans to be brave like the first generation of freedom fighters, urging them to let go of the past and not be held captive by the fear of change.
“Our heroes did not come from the same village or speak the same language. They were many and diverse, united by a common commitment to confront an unjust, exclusive, and oppressive system in search of national liberation,” Ruto said.
3. Nation Today
Kiswahili newspaper reported on the claims of the deputy president Rigathi Gachagua that he survived two assassination attempts.
Speaking at The Karen hospital on Sunday, October 20, Gachagua claimed he survived two assassination attempts before being acquitted.
The first incident allegedly happened in Kisumu County, where undercover security officers allegedly poisoned his food.
“In Kisumu, security officers tried to poison my food. When we were in Kisumu, secret agents entered my room and raided it. One of them tried to poison my food, but we found out, and escaped the plan,” Gachagua demanded.
The second case happened in the county of Painwhere suspected National Intelligence Service agents allegedly tried to poison his food.
4. The Star
The publication reported a sad case where a seven-storey building collapsed in Kahawa West, the county of Nairobi.
On Sunday, October 20, Kenya Redcross said several families may be trapped inside the collapsed building.
They said rescue efforts are ongoing as authorities work to assess the extent of the damage and possible injuries.
“A multi-agency response team is currently tackling the collapse of a building in Kahawa West, Nairobi County, where people are feared trapped,” Kenya Red Cross said.
According to Governor Johnson Sakaja, the building had been built and occupied without the required approval.
The building had been flagged as unsafe, and the resident asked to leave days before it collapsed.
