“We have entrusted Kindiki with this position, and we know he will defend the interests of all Kenyans. We will finish his swearing-in on Tuesday. He will have raised the Bible by 10:00 in the morning,” Sudi said.

The Member of Parliament reiterated that the decision to prosecute Gachagua was not his luck bad, saying there is a need to remove tribal politics that have gone backwards in the country.

He pointed out that if the former vice president was allowed to continue holding the post, he would contribute to ethnic divisions that would lead to civil war.

“This country belongs to all 50 million of us. Tribalism is a disease that should not be entertained; the people of Mount Kenya they are all over the country. Let us identify ourselves as Kenyans, not our tribes. No one wants to see what happened. in 2007 not to come again, and that's why we sued him (Gachagua), because we don't want to be pitied against each other on ethnic grounds if you are the deputy president fight all Kenyans,” Sudi said.

The courts prevented Kindiki from grabbing the post of deputy president despite the National Assembly approving his appointment and publication in the government gazette by Speaker Moses Wetang'ula.

Judge Chacha Mwita on Friday, October 18, stopped the process of appointing Kindiki as the new deputy president until the case filed by the embattled Gachagua is heard and decided.

Mwita said that the applications and oaths of support from Gachagua's lawyers are appropriate and thus he is satisfied with the court issuing the suspension order.

What did Gachagua request in court?

In his application submitted to the court, Gachagua through his lawyers criticized the decision of the Senate session, noting that the impeachment took place without him, thus violating his right to a fair hearing.

The team of lawyers led by Paul Muite argued that the charges brought against Gachagua before the National Assembly and later confirmed by the Senate are baseless and lack sufficient evidence.

He said that the Senate, as a decision-making body, was required by law to act as an impartial arbiter in determining whether the allegations were substantiated.

Gachagua listed the Speaker of the National Assembly, the Speaker of the Senate, the Senate and the Attorney General as those who responded to the request.
