Gachagua complained of chest pain at the height of his impeachment trial in the Senate, which led to him being rushed to hospital for treatment.

How is the condition of Rigathi Gachagua in the hospital?

On Thursday, October 17, the chief cardiologist at Karen Hospital, Dan Gikonyo, said that Gachagua will remain in the hospital for 48 to 72 hours for close monitoring of his health condition.

Gikonyo further hinted that the deputy president had shown symptoms of takotsubo disease, but the fact that he does not smoke will make it easier to control the condition.

“He came in with chest pains, and our first concern was if it was heart related. Ours was to make sure, as an adult, you don't have a heart attack,” said Gikonyo while standing beside Gachagua's two sons.

How is Gachagua doing now?

According to a Citizen TV report, doctors attending to him have limited access to his ward, as he is in a condition that requires a lot of rest.

Governor of Pain Kahiga Mutahi who visited Gachagua reported that he is recovering and his condition is stable. However, he had little time to talk to her due to her condition.

However, the high security that was previously in the hospital has been reduced following his impeachment by the Senate.
