The case to oust the Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua which is currently going on before the Senate has followed the adoption of the motion to remove him from power by 282 Members of Parliament who agreed with the demands presented by the Member of Parliament for Kibwezi West, Mwengi Mutuse.
During the interrogation, Gachagua's team of lawyers, led by lawyer Elisha Ongoya, strongly opposed the argument presented by Mutuse.
In his opening remarks, Ongoya called the allegations “false,” “absurd,” and even “disgraceful.”
“Things are getting hot but look at the situation, calm down and read. How many shares are there in the Vipingo Beach Company?” Ongoya asked Mutuse.
He highlighted the list of 22 companies mentioned by Mutuse, where the MP said that they had no problems with most of them.
In addition, Ongoya spoke about Gachagua's claims to have accumulated assets of KSh 5.2 billion since he entered office in 2022.
Mutuse confirmed that he arrived at these figures through his own calculations.
After the inspection, many Kenyans have shown interest in the way Ongoya conducted the case in court.
