Macharia said that the attempt is being made amid several cases where Gachagua wanted to prevent the process of removing him from the Senate.

“They are looking for microwave impeachment, the Senate is setting its own time,” Macharia told the court.

Asking Judge Chacha Mwita to issue emergency orders to prevent the Senate from discussing the motion to remove Gachagua, Macharia claimed that if Gachagua is removed from office, he will be completely barred from holding any public position in the country.

Macharia added that Gachagua will not be able to return to being a District Officer immediately after being removed. “My client cannot go back to being a DO,” Macharia insisted.

He made an emotional request to Judge Mwita, asking him to issue urgent orders before the Senate debates the motion to remove the deputy president on Wednesday, October 16.

Judge Mwita is expected to give a decision tomorrow at 8:30 in the afternoon, one day before the Senate starts hearing the motion to remove the deputy president.

The National Assembly presents the evidence of the Gachagua case to the Senate

This comes after the National Assembly presented more than 20 boxes of evidence that were sent to two pickup vehicles under strict security to support the position of the parliamentarians.

The submission followed the vote to remove Gachagua by 282 Members of Parliament, who cited corruption, abuse of office, and threats against the President William Ruto as the main reasons for their decision.

Gachagua also presented several boxes of evidence for the hearing of the case to remove him from office in the Senate.
