Nairobi – President William Ruto has made clear his decision to cancel his visit to Embu County at the last minute.
On Sunday, October 13, the president abruptly canceled his planned visit to Embu County amid a growing conflict with his deputy, Rigathi Gachagua.
Why did William Ruto ignore the visit of Embu
Many analysts claimed that the president was trying to avoid sharing the same platform with Gachagua, who recently linked him (Ruto) with his problems of being removed from power.
However, speaking at the AIC Milimani church in Nairobi, Ruto said he changed his schedule to attend the church's 30th anniversary celebrations, explaining relationship his long-term wives and members of the church.
The President explained that he had to cancel other plans because his commitment to the AIC Milimani celebrations was personal.
“When the senior pastor told me that they sent the invitation for this ceremony, I told him I would do my best because it was not on my schedule. My schedule was based elsewhere, I had to negotiate with people from other places because I did not want to miss this ceremony. Because there is something very festive about the mountains .
I missed the 25th anniversary celebration. I didn't want to miss this 30th anniversary,” said Ruto, aiming to remove doubts about his change of suddenly of plans.
Was Gachagua removed from the White House WhatsApp group?
This comes a month after Gachagua complained about being denied information about the president's schedule.
He revealed that was removed from the WhatsApp group where the events of Ruto's schedule were usually explained.
Gachagua noted that being separated from the group has made monitoring the president's activities a challenge.
He announced that he will only attend meetings to which he has been invited, as he no longer has regular information about Ruto's schedule.
The vice president revealed that he, his private secretary, and his chief of staff had been removed from the WhatsApp group that regularly updates the president's schedule.
