- Osando left home in search of job opportunities, initially heading to Maai Mahiu before moving to Naivasha where he worked as a chicken farmer
- His mother confirmed that the family had been searching tirelessly for him, and were very happy to see him back safely
One family in the County Kisii is celebrating the return of their son who disappeared from home in 2022.
Cyrus Osando, who was then a Grade Eight candidate, left home a few days before the Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) examination was to begin.
According to a KBC report, the now 16-year-old boy said he disappeared to look for work and money.
The family gathered at his parents' house in Nyanchwa Street in Kisii, singing and dancing happily following the return of their lost son.
Kisii boy to return home after two years
Speaking to the press, Cyrus' mother confirmed that her son went missing on September 24, 2022.
“He went missing in September 2022. We have been looking for him a lot. He was about to take his exam but he was nowhere to be seen,” he said.
The young man explained that he started looking for a living in Maai Mahiu but later left I turn it onwhere he raised chickens.
“I worked in Maai Mahiu, but someone helped me find a job in Naivasha where I reared chickens before deciding to return home,” he narrated.
Despite the sadness that their son left home voluntarily, the family expressed gratitude for his safe return.
“I want to thank God for bringing him home safe and sound. He was not hurt. He was not involved in drugs or satanic rituals. We just pray that God will continue to protect him,” said one of the family.
