Nairobi – Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has revealed details of a secret power-sharing agreement within the Kenya First alliance.
In a press conference on Monday, October 7, Gachagua claimed that he was being unfairly targeted for telling the truth about the power-sharing plan drawn up between the President William Ruto and leaders from other areas.
The Deputy President clearly named the Speaker of the Senate, Amason Kingi, and the Speaker of the National Assembly, Moses Wetang'ula, as the main beneficiaries of the agreement signed before the 2022 General Election.
Gachagua, who is facing a motion to dismiss him, defended his controversial position on Kenya to be a stock-led country.
“This man's crime is only telling the truth because people do not want these things to be known. People have a problem that I am honest. The people of Western Kenya now know today what their leaders signed with President William Ruto. It is up to them to claim their share according to with this agreement,” Gachagua said.
He revealed that Kingi's Pamoja African Alliance (PAA) was allocated the position of Senate Speaker under Article 8 of the agreement, a promise that was fulfilled after Kenya Kwanza came to power.
“According to article 8 of the agreement, PAA would be allocated the Speaker of the Senate; he discussed himself. Let's be honest. You brought this point we will discuss it. Kenyans must know the truth because if Rigathi Gachuga chooses to be crucified for being honest, the people of Kenya should know why He is being crucified. That position of Kingi was given to him,” DP added.
Why does Gachagua think Wetang'ula is a hypocrite?
Gachagua intercepted Wetang'ula's phone accusing the Speaker of the National Assembly of being part of the agreement that guaranteed West of Kenya to be allocated positions in the government.
According to Gachagua, Wetang'ula's calls for him to step down are hypocritical, given that he also signed the power sharing agreement.
“How is it that Moses Wetang'ula should say that I should be dismissed for saying that people should get their shares when he is the signatory of the share agreement with the president on what will happen in Western Kenya, and then they accuse me of tribalism? They didn't do that? say whatever goes to Kati or Mount Kenyathey talked about the West When I say something to Mount Kenya, I am a tribe,” Gachagua added.
