Nairobi – Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has received another blow in his quest to stop the debate on the proposal to remove him from power.
Cleophas Malala wanted the process of removing DP to be stopped
Monday, October 7, former secretary general of the party UDACleophas Malala, filed a case in court asking for an order to stop the process of ousting him.
In her petition, Malala claimed that the composition of the Senate and the National Assembly violates the gender laws enshrined in the Constitution of Kenyaas set out in articles 27(8) and 81(b), requiring not more than two-thirds of the members of the appointing bodies to be of the same sex.
However, the High Court Judge Luck Mwamuye refused to issue interim orders to stop the impeachment process.
At the same time, Parliament asked the court to consolidate 19 cases filed by Gachagua's allies who want to stop the motion to impeach him.
