Kirinyaga: Kizaazaa Believers Boycott Worship After Pastor's Life Threatened

Handouts aimed at the pastor of the Joy Holy Trinity Ministry church in the county of Kirinyaga have been distributed in the towns of Thiba and Ngurubani.

Leaflets of threats against the pastor

Those who wrote the pamphlets are asking Pastor Bernard Njuguna to resign due to several accusations facing him.

Njuguna has been accused of sexually abusing the wives of believers and financial embezzlement, including buying property and a luxury car worth KSh 7 million.

However, the pastor denied the allegations.

Believers miss attending church

According to a Citizen TV report, more than 500 believers did not attend the church fearing what would happen if their pastor showed up for the service following death threats.

Led by John Muriithi, some believers gathered near the church area for security reasons after the writers of the leaflets threatened to come armed.

“We are ready…with our shepherd. If they want his head, they can take mine too,” said Grace Waikombe, one of the believers.

One of the members of the Joy Holy Ministry church, Ibrahim Macharia, reported that ten people have been providing 24-hour security at Pastor Njuguna's home in Karira village this week.

“We have been guarding the shepherd's house every day,” said Macharia.

The pastor said he reported the threats to the offices of the Department of Criminal Investigation (DCI) in Mwea East in Wanguru, but no action was taken.

“After 21 days, they referred me to Kiamaciri police station. Why did they receive my complaint at first if they wanted to refer me to others?” asked the pastor angrily.

He has also threatened to take the matter to the Minister of Internal Affairs, Kithur Kindikisaying he and his family are not safe.

“We will travel to Nairobi because the threats against me and my family continue to increase, and nothing has been done here in Kirinyaga county,” said Njuguna.
