Morogoro, Tanzania: The news of a woman who was tied with a rope in a bus traveling with a man on the morning of October 2, 2024, raised concerns on the internet.
The woman was traveling in a Happy Nation bus that was heading to Morogoro from Katavi Mpanda, Tanzania.
According to Ayoo TV's report, the police stopped the bus at a roadblock in Morogoro to investigate the situation and confirm whether the woman was in danger.
When they entered the bus, the officers discovered that the 28-year-old woman, known as Amina Ramadhan Mohammed, was with her brother.
Why was Amina locked in the bus?
After an interview with police officers, her 36-year-old brother, Mohamed Ali Juma, explained that he was taking the sister to Morogoro for treatment.
Confirming the incident, the local police commander, Alex Mkama, thanked the Tanzanians who raised awareness following the incident, asking them to continue to be careful.
“I had to leave my station to come and see for myself before the bus got here; the bus was checked by our other officers, who also confirmed that the two are brothers. The woman has health problems, and her brother takes care of her when they go to seek health services, ” said Mkama.

The police commander also confirmed that the woman had not been detained against her will and was safe.
He noted that when they arrived in Morogoro, the two would be received by the officer in charge of gender and children.
“They will be received by an officer dealing with gender and children. He had to be confined due to his medical history, so I believe the family knows what is best for him,” said the commander.
The police commander said officers will conduct an investigation to confirm whether the woman really has a problem.
