22 Students, 3 Teachers Die After Their Bus Defends Returning From A School Trip

Thailand – At least 25 people have been confirmed dead following a horrific accident involving a school bus in Pathum Thani.

The Bangkok Post reported that a school bus carrying 38 students and 6 teachers on a trip exploded and caught fire on the side of the highway on Tuesday, October 1.

What the transport minister said about the accident in Thailand

Government officials said 20 students and 3 teachers died on the spot after being burned beyond recognition.

Transport Minister Suriya Juangroongruangkit said 16 other students and 3 teachers were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment.

The minister said that the cause of the fatal accident is being investigated.

The bus driver, identified as Samarn Chankut, fled the scene. His cell phone was turned off, and a warrant will be issued for his arrest.

Acting national police chief Pol Lt Gen Kittirat Phunphet said preliminary investigations indicate that the explosion was caused by a burst tire.

“When we spoke to the witnesses, we believe the explosion was caused by a spark from the tire that ignited the gas canister that was driving the vehicle. We are investigating everyone, including the bus company to see if this was an incident of negligence,” Phunphet said.

Rescue workers said 15 of the dead students were from elementary schools, and 6 were from high schools.

Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra offered his sincere condolences to the families of the victims and said that the government would cover the medical expenses.

“The government will cover the medical expenses and provide compensation to those who lost their lives,” Shinawatra said at the scene.

How six students died Kitui

There Kenyait was learned that three of the six children who were hit by a speeding car at Kyoani Market in Ikutha, along Kibwezi Road, belonged to the same family.

Neighbors recognized the identity of the six children when they responded quickly to the accident.

The students were two girls in Form Three and one girl in Form One, all of whom were students of Kyoani Secondary School.

The other two were girls and a boy attending Kyoani Primary School in Kitui county.
