Kakamega: Female Businesswoman Who Lost KSh 60k Bet Found Dead in Her Shop

Kambiri area chief, Caleb Natiri, revealed that the woman was found dead inside her shop on Tuesday, October 1, after allegedly losing KSh 60,000 in gambling games.

What did the local chief of Kambiri say about the incident?

He was playing the aviator game, a popular platform in which one places a bet and waits for his money to increase, then cashes out before the multiplier collapses.

Natiri urged the residents of the area to express themselves openly, especially when faced with problems, in order to avoid such cases.

“To all the residents of Kambiri, I want to urge you to seek help and express yourself openly if you have a problem. Try to talk to your neighbor. We have not got the full details of the incident, but the investigation has started, and we hope to get more information about the incident,” said the local chief.

One of the deceased's customers reported that shortly before his death, the businessman seemed worried while serving him, which surprised him.

A witness told reporters that the businessman was very involved in gambling from time to time.

“He was gambling using his phone and lost KSh 60,000, but the problem is that he kept quiet about it, which led to his death,” another witness revealed.

A CUEA student dies after losing a bet

In another similar incident, a College student University Catholic Association of East Africa (CUEA) was found dead in his house in the Lang'ata area after suffering from depression following losing a bet.

Brian Ongwae had placed a bet of KSh 15,000, which he was supposed to pay as his tuition, hoping to get a big profit.

The 22-year-old lived in the area of Raila Estate. According to his neighbors, he locked himself in his house and was heard talking to someone.

All was well until silence fell in his house, and the neighbors began to suspect about his whereabouts.

They were later surprised to find Ongwae's body hanging from one of the beams of his house.
