Department of Foreign Affairs of Kenya Diaspora Affairs has urged Kenyans in war-torn Lebanon to register for immediate evacuation.
Despite repeated reminders, the government expressed its disappointment that many have not yet taken advantage of this important program aimed at ensuring their safety, even if the state of anxiety continues in the country.
In its statement released on October 1, the government noted that it has succeeded in eliminating two groups and is still committed to continuing those efforts until all citizens are safe.
“We are deeply concerned that many Kenyans in Lebanon have not yet registered for evacuation despite our repeated calls. The government has succeeded in removing two groups and is committed to continuing these efforts until every Kenyan in need finds a safe home,” read the statement in part. .
What? How can Kenyans register to evacuate from Lebanon?
Kenyans in Lebanon are encouraged to register for relocation by applying through the link provided or by contacting the following numbers for coordination and guidance: +96590906719, +96171175006, or +254114757002. The deadline to register is October 12.
“The government continues to work hard with international partners and local authorities to find safe evacuation routes and ensure the well-being of our diaspora. Any Kenyan who wants to be evacuated must ensure that their registration is completed before October 12,” added the statement.
Kenyans stuck in Lebanon cried for help
Meanwhile, this call to action comes as several Kenyans in Lebanon express their urgent concern about their precarious situation.
Many women reported that their employers abandoned them amid the ongoing bombings, fleeing to safety with their passports, leaving them unable to leave.
One victim explained that many Kenyans have been evicted and are now living on the streets, facing frequent attacks from Israel that have caused several casualties.
