Nyamira: A Form 4 student dies after falling from the floor at school

How did a student of Sironga Girls' Secondary School die?

The 17-year-old student, Michelle Cheptoo, died after reportedly falling from the second floor of the school building.

In an interview with Citizen TV, the principal Jane Nyanumba confirmed the incident, saying that students who were preparing to go to the morning service in the morning witnessed how Cheptoo lost his life.

“At 5 o'clock in the morning he fell from the second floor of the building and hit his head,” Nyanumba said.

Nyanumba explained that due to the incident, Cheptoo was rushed to Nyamira Level 5 hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

The deputy principal of the school, Florence Obunga, echoed the principal's statement, saying that Cheptoo suffered a head injury during the fall.

Obunga said that Cheptoo was known to be a quiet girl who hid most of the time.

“He was hiding. Security officials are still investigating to find out what happened,” Obunga said.

What did the MP for Mugirango West say about Cheptoo's death?

In a statement obtained by TUKO.co.ke, Mugirango Member of Parliament West Stephen Mogaka expressed his sadness at the news of Cheptoo's death.

“I have received with shock and disbelief the terrible news of the death of suddenly of Michelle Cheptoo that happened in the school premises,” the statement read in part.

He also asked the investigation agencies to conduct a thorough investigation and ensure that the cause of the tragic incident is resolved to prevent future incidents.

He pledged his support to the Cheptoo family and the Sironga Girls community as they face the sad news.

“I stand with Angel Cheptoo's family and Sironga National Girls' School at this trying time,” Mogaka added.

A Form 4 boy died after a fire broke out at Sacred Hearts Rongai Boys' School

This comes a few days after the fire in the Sacred Heart Boys Rongai area in the city Nakuru costing the lives of approximately two people including a student.

The student who died as a result of the fire was a Form 4 candidate looking forward to his Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) 2024 examination.

A student of the school was also killed in the fire that broke out in the school on Friday night, September 20.
