Nairobi – The Inspector General of Police (IG) Douglas Kanja has failed to appear in court regarding the disappearance of the Member of Parliament Wajir Yussuf Ahmed.
On Thursday, September 26, Judge Alexander Muteti ordered Kanja to bring Ahmed to court on Friday, September 26, at 10 am or give an account of his whereabouts if he is in custody.
Muteti gave the instructions to the Inspector General of Police (IG) and the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) in a case where the family of the ward boss accused government officials of kidnapping their relatives in a taxi a week ago.
Yussuf's cousin wanted the court to intervene to compel the IG and DCI present him in court.
Who represented IG Kanja in court
However, the DCIO of the Industrial Area Justus Imana came to court to give answers about his whereabouts MCA.
When pressed about the missing ward representative, Imana told the court that the police were still looking for Yussuf.
“If I had the ability to conclude the investigation before arriving at this honorable court I could do so. The reason why I say I cannot do it is because, yes, information can be given but not final. conditions to undo the crime committed,” Imana told the court.
Lawyer Danstan Omari, appearing for Yussuf's relatives, pressed the DCIO if they could get CCTV footage from the area where the MCA was allegedly abducted.
How was Yussuf Ahmed captured?
As previously reported, Abdikadir Abdullahi sued on Yussuf's behalf, saying the politician disappeared from South B Estate on the night of September 13 after being forced out of a taxi.
Peter Wambua, a Faras mobile company driver, claimed he picked up Ahmed from South C Estate on September 13 and was heading towards Pangani Heights when a white and black Toyota Landcruiser stopped them suddenly.
He said that it was around 8.20pm when he found the South C customer.
Wambua added that when they arrived at Enterprise Road, two Prados stopped his car, whereupon five masked men fired their guns and pulled the MCA out of the taxi.
