Nine students of St. Aloys Mayenya Secondary School in the city Poisonous they are recovering from the injuries they sustained after a strong wind destroyed their classrooms.

The incident is reported to have happened following the heavy rain that fell in the area on Wednesday evening, September 25.
The principal of the school, Judith Atieno, said the strong wind was accompanied by lightning that struck two classrooms and the staff room.
“The thunderstorm destroyed two classrooms and the staff room during the heavy rain yesterday evening,” he said.

Students who suffered injuries from the incident were rushed to the hospital of St. Elizabeth in Chiga, Kisumu county.
The principal claimed that the students were out of danger, although the incident left others in shock. He added that at the moment everything is under control.
“The heavy rain left a trail of destruction, with the roofs of the affected classrooms being ripped off,” he said.
The school management led by the principal is asking the county government and people of good will for help to rebuild the affected classrooms so that normal academic activities can return.
A tin thrown by the wind killed a 4-year-old student in Kilifi
In a separate incident, Mariakani residents were mourning after a 4-year-old student was killed by a metal hurled by Gogoraruhe ECDE Mosque School amid strong winds.
Four other students suffered serious injuries after the flying metal hit them.
The children were rushed to the Mariakani Sub-County Hospital for treatment, where the four-year-old girl sadly passed away from her injuries while being treated.
Other students suffered head and leg injuries as a result of the incident.
Speaking after the tragedy, Governor Gideon Mung'aro said the school's parking lot, cars and classrooms were damaged.
In addition, he emphasized the severity of the strong wind, saying that it uprooted trees and electricity poles and left many homeless.
