Kano – At least five police officers have been confirmed dead after an accident occurred near Karfi town in Kura local government area.
The spokesman for the Kano police commander, Abdullahi Kiyawa, confirmed the incident, saying the accident on Tuesday, September 24, injured 11 other police officers.
The police commander said the tragic accident happened in the village of Karfi, a few kilometers from Kano, when the officers were returning to Kano after carrying out official duties.
According to reports, the officials were returning to Kano after the conclusion of the Edo State governorship election.
Preliminary investigations show that the car the police officers were traveling in collided head-on with a trailer.
“It is said that the car the police officers were traveling in had a head-on collision with a trailer in the village. Five officers died on the spot, while 11 others who suffered various injuries were rushed to the Murtala Mohammed Special Hospital where they are receiving treatment.Abdullahi said as quoted by the Daily Post.
