Chicago: Families are grieving after two athletes were involved in a horrific crash on Interstate 80 between La Grange Road and Harlem Avenue in Tinley Park.

How did the Tinley Park accident happen?

The two best friends, identified as 20-year-old Tyler Koscinski and 19-year-old Mason Santiago, were on their way out of college. staple when death came to them.

“They were close friends…They loved to laugh together, they enjoyed together, they played and competed in competitive sports,” said Koscinski's mother.

Police told NBC that the accident occurred when the athletes' Dodge Journey SUV and a truck-tractor semi-trailer collided.

They said that the SUV was traveling towards the west when the fatal accident happened that day.

The two slain men had been friends since elementary school, according to their families.

What did the families of the athletes say?

According to the report ABCKoscinski's mother, Kelly, said that her son was the light of their family.

“He is a very gentle brother, a talented athlete, and a young man who was funny, loving to everyone,Kelly said.

Koscinski's father revealed that his son dreamed of becoming a PE teacher or coach, but he did not live long enough to fulfill that dream.

Santiago's family said that their son was a very gentleman and loved everyone.

Kelvin Kiptum dies in a horrific accident

Earlier in this country, marathon world record holder Kelvin Kiptum was killed in a road accident on the Eldoret-Kaptagat road.

Kiptum and his coach from Rwanda, Gervais Hakizimana, died in a fatal road accident on Sunday, February 11.

County Police Commander Elgeyo MarakwetPeter Mulinge, said the 24-year-old Kenyan athlete, who was driving a Toyota Premio, and his coach died instantly at the scene of the accident.

The police officer said that the third passenger survived with serious injuries.
