During the hearing of the case, Jeruto, represented by Elizabeth Wangari, asked the court to sentence Kibet to civil imprisonment for ignoring the court summons.

He revealed that he tried to settle the case out of court and visited Moi immediately after his arrest, but his efforts were futile.

“The warrant of arrest related to the disobedience of the lawful order was issued by this court on June 2, 2022. So far, there has been no compliance with the order. After being informed that the accused was brought to the Nakuru Central Police Station yesterday, I visited the station for the purpose to see if we will be able to agree with the accused by following the court order for luck unfortunately, our efforts did not bear fruit,” Wangari told the court.
