Master healer, Titus Sabwami, has revealed shocking details of how his identity was stolen and his death faked.
Sabwami explained that his ordeal was part of a larger scheme to defraud him and steal his hard-earned pension.
In an interview, Sabwami, a retired teacher, explained that in 2012, he was hospitalized and later discovered that someone had forged his death certificate.
He said that he continued to write letters to the Chief Executive Officer of the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) but did not receive any response.
According to Sabwami, the fraudsters made a man named Emmanuel Nali Kakai pretend to be his son and heir.
“In 2012, I was in the hospital for a long time. I have been writing to the TSC CEO but there is no response. Suddenly I have come to discover that a man by the name of Emmanuel Nali Kakai; they appointed him to be my son, that is, my heir,” Sabwami narrated painfully.
How much did Sabwami lose?
Sabwami, in disbelief of what happened, explained how Emmanuel and another man, Franklin Kakai, were able to withdraw a staggering KSh 7 million, his accumulated pension money.
He said the money was his after decades of serving in the teaching profession, adding that according to his file, he is deceased.
Sabwami said the two men who carried out this brutal act are one who is in the army (KDF) in Gilgil and the other is a lawyer who has studied but has not yet found a job.
“He was given about KSh 7 million, which was my collected money. As I am speaking now, I am known as the deceased; they have used the funeral permit and death certificate in my file. That Emanuel Nali Kakai and Franklin Kakai, they are fraudsters who pretended to be my father their and I have died. This man from Gilgil is KDFand this other one studied law but has not found any job,” he said with anger in his voice.
The teacher moves to the village, he works as a porter
In a separate incident, Odhiambo Kaumah, a teacher from Loresho in Westlands Constituency, expressed his anger at his employer's threats.
Odhiambo revealed that he decided to return to his village Namba Okana, Ahero, county Poisonouswhere he is currently working as a porter in the Ahero rice factory.
He decided to work as a porter due to the ongoing harvest season and the availability of such work in his community.
