Bomet – A feeling of sadness has spread in a family that has lost a loved one who started to get sick suddenly.
Felix Kipyegon passed away a few days after he was expected to live in college staple but he experienced discomfort.
Kipyegon was diagnosed with meningitis
The young man was queuing for admission at Kirinyaga University when he complained of a headache.
Speaking to TUKO.co.ke, Bernard Ngeno, a family member narrated the story that led to the death of the young man.
“He had gone to school with some of his friends who also studied there, when they were in line he started to complain of a headache, not long after he fainted and was taken to the school's clinic for first aid,” he said.
Kipyegon was taken to Kerugoya County Referral Hospital
His health did not improve, he was rushed to Kerugoya County Referral Hospital for further treatment.
The doctors discovered the young man who studied for the Certificate of Kenya of Secondary Education (KCSE) in 2023 and passed with flying colors due to bacterial meningitis.
“Immediately, the doctors started attending to him. We never thought that he would have such a health condition. It seemed to attack him right then and there, when his health continued to deteriorate in the hospital, we asked for a referral, and he received treatment.” he was taken to Tenwek Hospital, where his health failed to improve again,” he said sadly.
Kipyegon dies in ICU
Doctors diagnosed the boy from the county of Bomet and meningitis, and other treatments began immediately.
Kipyegon, 19, was taken to the intensive care unit (ICU), where his health continued to deteriorate.
“It wasn't long before we lost him in the ICU, since his death we started raising funds for hospital and funeral payments as well, parents and other family members are heartbroken, all we are asking for is financial support, donations can be sent to 0745 471 806,” he added.
