Laikipia – Laikipia East Member of Parliament Mwangi Kiunjuri has highlighted the role of Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and Home Affairs Minister Kithure Kindiki in Mount Kenya politics.
In an interview with Inooro TV, Kiunjuri addressed the allegations regarding the recent Nyahururu Declaration, confirming that the focus was on regional development.
Kiunjuri expressed dismay at the focus on Kindiki, which he said overshadowed the broader objectives of the declaration.
He said that the meeting was not a challenge to Gachagua's position but a strategy to promote development in the entire densely populated area.
“The Nyahururu resolution was not about anyone and it was not funded by anyone as it was supposed to be, we paid our bills, we met MachakosKiambu a few months ago, so the Nyahururu meeting did not sit first, the meeting was. basis of issues, which aims to connect the regional leadership for development,” Kiunjuri explained.
Why the leaders of Mt. Kenya united
Kiunjuri said that although the political influence of Gachagua is accepted by many, the central council of the region was very focused on development.
He explained that Kindiki was chosen to facilitate development discussions and be a link between the people of Mount Kenya and President William Ruto.
“Kindiki's role is not that of a king but a link. The meeting aims to ensure that all elected leaders have the same opportunity to influence their areas, avoiding the concept of favoritism,” he said.
The Member of Parliament expressed his concern due to the lack of appropriate communication from Gachagua regarding the issues of the area Mount Kenya.
Kiunjuri accuses Gachagua of isolating Mount Kenya
Earlier, Kiunjuri accused the second chief of trying to isolate Mlima area Kenya for personal political gain.
Kiunjuri claimed that Gachagua's efforts to consolidate support in the Mt Kenya area are part of a wider plan to weaken the influence of President William Ruto.
The leader of the Service Party asked the leaders of Mount Kenya to remain united with the central government despite Gachagua's actions.
Kiunjuri criticized Gachagua for focusing on regional politics instead of supporting the implementation of Kenya Kwanza's campaign promises.
