Hillside Endarasha: Mass for Students Who Perished in Fire Tragedy to Be Held Next Week

Nyeri—A memorial service for students who lost their lives at Hillside Endarasha Academy will be held next week.

County Commissioner of PainPius Murugu, announced the completion of the investigation into the fire accident that occurred on September 5.

The families are now waiting for the results before they are given the bodies of their loved ones.

Where will the ceremony to honor the children of Endarasha be held?

Murugu said the funeral service involving all denominations will be held together at Mweiga Stadium in Kieni before the students are buried with their families.

The national government will cover all funeral and medical expenses.

“We will have a memorial service for all the victims so that the bodies can be released to the families. The government covers all funeral and medical expenses,” he said.

The county commissioner added that the government would replace learning materials and other items damaged by the fire for students who will return to school soon.

“We have many who lost their personal belongings. Today we have planned a budget for all the expenses that will be used, and the government will take care of that,” said Murugu.

What measures has Endarasha school taken to avoid fire tragedies?

Meanwhile, the owner of the school revealed that plans were underway to reopen the school. David Kinyua Wambugu was given permission to reopen the school after two weeks of thorough investigation.

One of the measures he announced is to reduce the number of students in the school's dormitories.

Now it will have only 195 students from 330.

To implement this change, students who live near the school will not be allowed to live in the dormitories.
