Nyeri – President William Ruto has criticized his deputy Rigathi Gachagua for allegedly running early campaigns.
Speaking in the county of Pain On Sunday, September 15, Ruto told Gachagua to stop early campaigns and instead focus on implementing the government's agenda for Kenyans.
Ruto he said that the leadership of 2027 will ultimately be left in the hands of God and the people, stressing that campaigns and political debates should be put aside for now since the elections are still three years away.
“Let's reduce the conversation about the year 2027. The year 2027 is for God and the people to decide. Right now, we have three years ahead of us, and that time should not be used to plan how to win the election. First, focus on how to serve the people,” Ruto said.
The country's leader said that leaders cannot be elected and immediately start campaigns to return to power without first doing what they promised to the voters.
Ruto asked the leaders to focus on implementing the manifesto Kenya First as they promised during the campaign.
“Don't you think that first you should consider how to work for the people? Let us try to fulfill the promises we gave to the people of Kenyanot how to win the next election,” the president said.
