Hundreds of mourners gathered in Kisawo village to bid farewell to four family members who lost their lives in a tragic road accident.
The victims are Moses Ssemwogerere, aged 42, his wife Rebecca Arinaitwe, aged 41, and their two children, Winfred aged 12, and Samuel aged two.
How Ssemwogerere's family perished
New Vision newspaper reported that all four lost their lives in the tragic accident South Africa.
Isaac Ddamulira, Ssemwogerere's brother, sadly explained the details of the accident that claimed the lives of the entire family.
The fatal accident happened on the night of September 1, when Ssemwogerere was driving with his family to Tsomo, where his wife was working as a teacher.
“When they arrived at Buttaworth in the Eastern Cape province, another car, driven by a person who was allegedly drunk, entered their path and collided with them,” Ddamulira explained.
The dead are mourned like pious Christians
After the accident, the family's car was thrown off the road and fell into a valley, where the police later found their bodies.
Ssemwogerere and Arinaitwe were respected teachers who had lived and worked in South Africa for 17 years.
Ddamulira explained that the couple were devout Christians who had attended a service a few hours before the accident.
“This is the family that we are saying goodbye to today, they were always God-fearing. They always turned to prayer to face challenges,” he participated.
Ssemwogerere's family had plans to return home
During the funeral service, it was revealed that the family had planned to return Uganda in December for the first time since they left for South Africa in 2007.
Ssemwogerere's mother, Alice Nalubega, burst into tears explaining how the tragic accident denied her the prospect of meeting her son after a long time.
“I was expecting my son, his wife, and my grandchildren to come home this December, but it was God's plan that it didn't happen,” Nalubega said.
