Kirinyaga – Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua raised questions after boycotting an event attended by President William Ruto in Nyeri county.
Sunday, September 15, the president attended an event in the Central State of West of AIPCA in Nyeri.
The Deputy President failed to attend even though the organizers had given him a seat next to the president.
Why did Rigathi Gachagua miss the event Ruto
Gachagua, who attended the centenary celebrations of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Baricho, Kirinyagadismissed his move to not attend Ruto's event.
Speaking in Kirinyaga, DP revealed that he had planned to join Ruto there Pain but he changed his mind after being told that there will be a cake to be eaten at the church's 100th anniversary celebrations.
He said the event at the Catholic Parish of Baricho was so interesting that he decided to stay until the end.
“I was in a hurry to attend another church event in Nyeri, and then I heard that there will be cake. I wondered if the event would end without eating cake. So I decided to wait for the cake,” Gachagua said.
How William Ruto criticized Gachagua
Speaking in Nyeri, the president indirectly attacked his deputy for allegedly participating in early campaigns.
Ruto told Gachagua avoid early campaigns and instead focus on implementing the government's agenda for Kenyans.
Ruto said leadership in 2027 will remain with God and the people, stressing that political campaigns and talks should be abandoned for now as the election is still three years away.
The country's leader claimed that leaders cannot be elected and immediately start campaigns for re-election without first serving the voters.
Ruto asked the leaders to focus on implementing the Kenya First manifesto as they promised during the campaign.
