A traffic policeman who seemed to be engaged in his normal activities was caught unawares when he tried to receive a small amount of money from a vehicle transporting passengers.

How a Nairobi traffic policeman found himself in trouble

He found himself in trouble after he allegedly broke a car window after the driver hesitated to give money known as a bribe.

In an undated clip that went viral on social media, angry employees ganged up on the officer, pulling him aside while berating him about his behavior.

He tried to defend himself, but it all went in vain as the prosecutors did not allow him to have a chance to defend himself.

They vowed not to let him go until he repaired the damage to the car.

“You are a thief! Why are you stealing from us? Why did you break the shield of the car?” they slandered him, calling him unpublishable.

This would add to the recent public backlash against police officers believed to be corrupt.

How a man from Mombasa put a traffic policeman on the spot

Recently, in the city Mombasaan old man bravely confronted a traffic officer for allegedly asking for bribes from public service vehicle operators.

He was caught getting out of the car to approach the officer after he felt he was going to ask for a bribe.

The determined citizen pointed his finger at the officer, warning that he would record him if he continued to ask for money from matatu workers.

Seemingly unfazed, the officer passed his accuser and went to the other side of the matatu, and ordered the driver to move the car.

The citizen called the officer and his colleagues, accusing them of perpetuating a culture of corruption and harassing PSV operators who are facing high fuel and vehicle maintenance costs.
