Nairobi – Acting Police Commissioner Gilbert Masengeli has been sentenced to six months in prison after being found guilty of disrespecting court orders.
During a court session on Friday, September 13, Justice Lawrence Mugambi ordered the police chief to surrender to the Chief Commissioner of Prisons to begin serving his sentence.
“Masengeli has been ordered to surrender to the Chief Commissioner of Prisons to ensure that he is handed over to a prison facility to begin serving his sentence,” Judge Mugambi ruled.
The court added that if Masengeli fails to surrender, the Minister of Internal Security, Kithure Kindiki, must ensure that he serves his sentence.
“If he does not agree to surrender to the Chief Commissioner of Prison Services as ordered, the Minister of Home Affairs must take all necessary steps to ensure that Gilbert Masengeli is handed over to prison to serve his sentence,” said the judge.
