Poisonous – Governor Anyang' Nyong'o has celebrated his appointment as acting leader of the ODM party Raila Odinga.
Nyong'o's appointment comes as the long-time ODM leader turns his attention to his campaign for the chairmanship of the African Union Commission (AUC).
In his statement on Wednesday, September 11, Nyong'o expressed his gratitude and dedication following his appointment.
Nyong'o, who has been a great partner of Railawelcomed the new role with enthusiasm, thanking the Azimio leader for his trust.
“I express my sincere gratitude to our leader, Rt. Hon. Raila Odinga, and the Central Management Committee of ODM for entrusting me with the role of Acting Party Leader.
“I am very grateful for the trust you have placed in me to manage the party while Father attends to his international duties,” Nyong'o said.
What is Nyong'o's message to ODM supporters?
The governor assured ODM members and supporters that the party's core values and objectives will remain steadfast under his leadership.
“To the entire ODM family across the country, I assure you that we will continue to follow Baba's path as we raise our great party to greater heights. The party is strong,” Nyong'o added.
He reiterated that ODM will continue to be strong and stable under him, indicating his commitment to move forward with the main agenda of the party.
ODM has denied reports that Raila is retiring
Previously, ODM party secretary general Edwin Sifuna he clarified that Raila has not lost his position in the leadership of the party, as the local newspaper claimed.
Sifuna said despite his boss abandoning local politics to focus on his quest for the AUC chairmanship, he still remains the party's leader.
A few weeks ago, the veteran politician announced that he would take a break from domestic politics to focus on his continental ambition.
