He urged the workers to take their time to prepare and return to work, adding that the Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) should facilitate this.

“Now that we have ended the strike, right? The plan to return to work is going on, but if there are those who need to be at work right now and it is not okay, we are asking the KAA management to facilitate you. If there are those who want to go home to take a shower and then go back to work, that is okay.

Since we have been here since the day before yesterday, I haven't showered either. If this airport were better, we would have hot water to shower and a hotel where you would be taken to eat, but it doesn't matter. We, those without luckwe will live like this. Therefore, no one should bother you; no one should tell you to run away from work. I have made it clear to the government,” he said.

Why did KAWU call off their strike?

Ndiema revealed that the party has reached an agreement with the government, thus allowing workers to have a voice in decisions moving forward.

According to the agreement, the employees are given veto power, requiring their approval before the agreement with India's Adani Group is finalized.

“We have not agreed with Adani. We will be given the authority to veto, which our signature will be required to move forward. That is acceptable. And even if they cut their hand, I will not sign,” he explained.

Why Francis Atwoli supported the strike

Previously, the General Secretary of the Community of Trade Unions (COTU) Francis Atwoli he supported the aircrew strike.

Atwoli claimed former Transport Cabinet Minister Kipchumba Murkomen refused to explain Adani's plan to the workers.

According to Atwoli, the Cabinet secretaries in Kenya's First government are to blame for the current crisis.
