Embu – The growing discord within the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party has increased, while the leaders of Mount Kenya East unanimously changing their political allegiance.
During a high-profile meeting held at the Izaak Walton Inn on Monday, September 9, elected leaders from Embu, Tharaka Nithi, and Meru counties decided to forge a new political path for the region.
The leaders mentioned the need to have a strong progressive relationship with the national government for their resolution.
In a statement, the leaders announced Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki as their link to the Presidency, and dismissed Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
“As leaders, we remain determined to ensure the development of Mount Kenya East. Our people deserve nothing less. As parliamentarians of Mount Kenya East, and on behalf of our people, we have unanimously agreed that the relationship between us and the executive is Prof. Kithure Kindiki ,” the leaders said.
Recognizing the political importance of the area, the leaders felt that the large voter camp in East Mount Kenya could no longer be ignored.

The MPs also thanked President William Ruto for appointing three Cabinet Secretaries from the area: Justin Muturi, Kithure Kindiki, and Eng. Eric Muga
They said the appointment shows Ruto's recognition of the importance of Mt Kenya East in the national agenda.
“We take this opportunity to sincerely thank Mr. President William Samoei Ruto for recently appointing three Secretaries of the Council of Ministers from our region ie Hon. Justin Muturi, Prof. Kithure Kindiki, Eng. Eric Mugaa. These three appointments show the confidence and recognition that the President has placed in Mount Kenya East, and we are grateful for their opportunity to serve in national leadership,” he said.
The leaders emphasized the need to prioritize important development projects, including unfinished road infrastructure, water, and electricity distribution programs initiated during the previous administration.
They urged the government to speed up the completion of the projects, emphasizing its importance in the growth and prosperity of the region.
