Later they were joined by the Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua evening, who came to offer his personal condolences and support to the bereaved families.

In an emotional situation that has since spread on social networks, the deputy president was seen visiting the remains of the dormitory, accompanied by security officers.

As reported earlier, parents who watched the scene where the children perished after being burned beyond recognition cried and screamed, unable to bear the grief of the village losing more than a dozen young souls in hours.
They had camped at the scene, wanting to see the horror and the place where the boys spent their last moments before their lives were consumed by the fire.
Initially, their efforts were rebuffed until the DP arrived on the scene and allowed them to view the hostel 'with closure'.
