A worried Irene Wanjiru traveled more than 380 kilometers to reach the school in Kieni, Nyeri county, where about 17 students died.

Where is Irene Wanjiru from?

He was traveling from Maua, County Meruto the school where his son attends, hoping to find answers following the tragedy.

The parent made the trip following the heartbreaking news of the fire at the educational institution.

Like many, the woman seemed restless as she waited for more information about the ordeal.

“There is no information that they have given me, and it is very sad because you do not know where the child is or the condition of the student, there is no clear information because some reports say that the students are in the wild, others in the hospital. And that is what traumatizes us all,” he said sadly.

My grandson is in grade 8, Rukwaro says

The 72-year-old man also went to the area where his grandson's schools were following the terrible news.

John Rukwaro was still working on what happened while expressing his hope to find his grandson alive.

“My grandson is in the 6th grade, and he is among the students who have not been found so far. But I hope he will be found because everything is possible,” he said calmly.

Why did Ogamba stop his trip to China?

In another statement, the Minister of Education Julius Migos Ogamba cut short his trip to China after the school fire.
