Endarasha Fire: Father Tells How Son Survived Fire That Killed 18 Students, Saved His Colleagues

Patrick Gikandi, the father of a student at Hillside Endarasha School, narrated how his son was able to escape the night fire that claimed the lives of 18 students.

The fire also injured 14 other students, all of whom are currently receiving treatment in various hospitals.

How his son Gikandi survived the Endarasha school fire

Gikandi expressed her happiness when she learned that her son was safe following the fire at their school on Thursday night, September 5.

“I was informed about the incident at school by my friend who confirmed that my son and his child are fine, I thank God very much,” he said.

Talking to NTVthe parent said his son miraculously woke up to go to the toilet when he saw the fire.

He added that his son also heard some students in the dormitory shouting for help.

Gikandi's son quickly alerted the other students who were unaware of the fire, even dropping his metal box to wake up those who were sleeping.

“Those who were around him were able to respond when he rang the bell and woke up quickly. That's how they got out of the burning dormitory,” Gikandi said.

Gikandi said he has no plans to transfer his son to another school, as he believes the incident was an accident.

“Only God protects us. A person can die in other ways than fire. So I will bring him back when they report to the school,” he added.

This is happening following a case where the family of Pain painfully revealed how they found out about the night fire in the school where their relatives study.

John Muriithi, a pastor, said he learned about the fire at 11:30 pm. Thursday, September 5. He was asleep when he heard the sirens of the firemen and woke up.

Muriithi said that firefighters were already putting out the fire when they arrived.

Sadly, she still doesn't know if her grandson is alive or not.
