A Woman Who Lost Her Husband and Son in the Nithi Bridge Accident Speaks: “I Am a Serious Slave”

A woman has broken down in tears following the accident that happened on the Meru-Embu road.

Lucy Kamene lost two family members who died in the horrific accident that broke the hearts of Kenyans.

Speaking to TUKO.co.ke, Kamene emotionally revealed that her husband and son were among the victims of the accident.

“The lives of my husband and two-year-old son were taken away. They were returning from an event there Meru. My husband had taken his friend to visit his girlfriend's parents. Later he would take our son to visit his grandfather before starting the journey.”

Back home. He had insisted on going with our child because of my pregnancy,” he said bitterly.

What was the last conversation between Kamene and her husband?

Kamene, whose husband was the sole breadwinner, said she spoke to him at 6pm that day as he was preparing to return home Ongata Rongai.

He tried to find her at one o'clock in the night, but her phone was nowhere to be found, and she thought the battery was dead.

“Hours passed and he did not call me, I tried to call his phone but it was not received, after several attempts to find him in vain I fell asleep, around 5:00 in the morning I called the woman who had gone with him and she told me that my husband and my son had an accident but were still recovering in the hospital,” he remembered.

Why was Kamene not told about the death of her husband, son?

Kamene prepared to go to the hospital to visit her husband and son, not knowing the whole story.

He decided to visit his mother before going to the hospital, and his mother told him the sad news.

“The reason no one told me was because they were afraid of my unborn child if I knew the truth, and since I was alone in the house, they were afraid that something bad might happen. I was in a lot of pain and I felt helpless,” he cried.
