Forced to leave

Speaking to journalists earlier, Ssenyonyi gave information about why Bobi Wine had to leave the hospital.

He said the security officers have started “to put pressure on the hospital staff to give them information about Bobi Wine's treatment.”

“Medical records are private. They should only be accessible to his family and close relatives. Why does the government keep trying to get them?” He said.

“That's why we decided that now that the minor surgery has been done and the pieces have been removed, he can go home… and the hospital assured us that everything else can be managed from home.”

The police were criticized

Ssenyonyi also slammed the police for “misleading the public” about what happened in the Bulindo conflict.

Police spokesperson Kituuma Rusoke last night said officers at the scene claimed that Bobi Wine slipped and fell and injured himself.

Ssenyonyi described this statement as “stupid and shameful.”

He also noted that the incident “wasn't an accident” and that it “appeared to be intentional” due to the way police officers aimed tear gas at Bobi Wine.

“We need the government to tell us why they want to remove our leader because he has been involved in many similar incidents,” he said.

Ssenyonyi also questioned why the Police continue to deploy dangerous weapons such as teargas to disperse the people.

“Tear bombs are like bombs; many people have lost their limbs with these cans,” he said.

Did Ugandan police shoot Bobi Wine?

They said Bobi and his team opposed the police's advice against them continuing the process of going to Bulindo town.

The squad continued their march, much to the dismay of the officers who had recruited them, and a fight broke out in the process.

While Bobi and his party claimed he was shot in the leg, the police said the politician suffered a leg injury after tripping while riding in his car.

“During the altercation, he allegedly suffered injuries. The police officers who were at the scene claim that he tripped while getting into his car and caused the injury, while he and his team claim that he was shot,” part of the police statement said.
