Simanzi is flourishing at his home in Rongai, where his son, Dennis Makau, is struggling to come to terms with the loss of his mother.
Makau recounted his last conversation with his mother, revealing the unsettling warnings that kept him constantly informed.
He explained that he could not watch the soccer match at that time, and for the first time, Teresia took a long time to answer his messages.
“His last message was, 'We're on our way. We're coming.' I texted him first, he replied and said they were on their way but while I was watching the game. I texted him again, usually my messages are answered within five minutes. I called him about twenty times, but he didn't answer.” Dennis said, his voice choked with emotion.
Her mother's silence increased her anxiety until her mother's friend answered one of her calls and informed her about the accident and efforts to find her mother.
The heartbreaking confirmation of his death came on Sunday, September 1, leaving him to care for his two siblings.
