Sadness has gripped a group of women following the loss of their colleagues in a fatal accident at the Nithi Bridge on the Meru-Embu Road.
The accident claimed the lives of 12 people including two children, nine women and the driver of the car. Police reports indicate that several vehicles were involved in the accident.

TUKO.co.ke spoke to Elizabeth, a member of the affected squad, who shared that the group attended a blessing ceremony with parents at a colleague's residence there Meru.
Elizabeth explained that the 20 women traveled in two cars to the ceremony, where the parents were awarded gifts from various guests.
When their car was only a few meters away from the scene, Elizabeth heard a loud bang and turned around to see that the car had crashed.
“The party was amazing and memorable. We were visiting a friend who had invited us with the parents' blessing. The accident was terrible, and I even lost my phone in the chaos,” he said.
So far, Elizabeth says some women are so affected that none of them can be reached by phone.

Jared Bikundo, the driver of the other car Elizabeth was riding in, described the horrific incident, saying he witnessed the accident happen.

Bikundo said that some cars did not stop to help.
Sadly, in their efforts to save the injured, they found out that they all died on the spot, as there were no cries or sounds coming from the car.
“After crossing the Nithi bridge, I saw a car driving at a high speed, apparently losing its brakes, headed to the other side and collided head-on with an oncoming car before overturning. I parked my car and watched the accident happen. People screamed. When I tried to help, the car doors were locked, there were cries and the car was badly damaged,” Bikundo said.
