Nithi Bridge: Family Mourns Woman Who Died Among 12, Says She Said Goodbye to Her Son

Lucy Kiende, a neighbor of the late Njeri from Kware in Rongai, cried bitterly after finding out that her friend was among those who died in the Nithi bridge accident
According to Lucy, Njeri was happy as they prepared to leave their home for a parent blessing group event at Nkubu area in Meru.
Njeri is survived by a husband and young children, and Lucy appealed to the government to help bury her and also educate her young children

A businessman from Kware market in Rongai has mourned his friend Njeri who was among the 12 people who died in the Nithi bridge accident.

What? How did the Nithi Bridge accident happen?

According to trader Lucy Kiende, who was selling fruit with Njeri, the group had traveled to Nkubu, the county of Meruvisiting one of the parents of a member of their party to get a blessing when they were involved in a multi-vehicle accident at the famous Nithi Bridge area.

It is said that, the tragedy happened when a cargo truck collided head-on with a car carrying 14 people that was carrying the friends.

A few minutes later, the Toyota Sienta braked and hit a truck that was stuck at the scene of the accident.

Njeri leaves her husband and small children behind

Speaking to Paxon TV, Lucy, who worked with the deceased in the market and is also the deceased's son-in-law, said the deceased lived with his mother in Rongai, but left for his home in the village.

“Her aunt Njeri got off the stage but later she found out that others had had an accident. She went to Chuka and found her in the mortuary. We are very sad because she was a little girl, and she died with her one-year-old son,” Lucy said.

“We need help from the government to plan the funeral because it is a big burden; Njeri had very young children and her husband is unemployed. The mother was the main breadwinner of the family,” he added.
