A Kenyan man allegedly killed his girlfriend in the country United States and then fleeing to Nairobi, he has been brought back to the country to face charges.
Kelvin Kang'ethe, 40, allegedly killed Margaret Mbitu and left her body in her car, which was abandoned in a garage at Logan Airport, Massachusetts.
Kang'ethe left Nairobi Sunday, September 1. The case will be overseen by the US FBI team, with its first trial scheduled for September 3.
“Kang'ethe left the country on September 1, 2024, and is expected to answer the charge of murder in Suffolk Superior Court in Pemberton Square Boston on September 3.
I would like to reiterate my commitment and support whenever needed for the American nation and especially the prosecution team as they move forward with the next phase of the trial. To Margaret Mbitu's family, we offer our support and prayers,” Renson Ingonga, Director of Public Prosecutions, said in a statement witnessed by TUKO.co.ke.
The move comes after he assured FBI Director Christopher Wray during a meeting in Nairobi in June 2024 that his office was committed to ensuring justice involving this case is done quickly.
