President William Ruto has given several good gifts to the residents of Nyanza as he concludes his three-day visit to the area, which is considered to be the political stronghold of his new partner, Raila Odinga.

What? How many families will Mageta Solar Grid electricity help?

On Friday, August 30, Ruto launched the Mageta Island Solar Grid there BondoSiaya county.

The President revealed that the green energy project will empower 1,400 families and be reliable amid frequent power outages.

“In Mageta, Bondo Constituency, the Mageta Island Solar Grid was established, which will power 1,400 households, support the fish business by installing cold rooms and improve the delivery of public services in hospitals and schools,” Ruto posted on his X page.

Ruto explained that the installation of seven small solar grids under the Electricity Improvement Project Kenya will strengthen access to clean and reliable electricity supply.

“This will reduce electricity costs for businesses and supply electricity to more than 4,000 households in the county Siaya,” he added.

A statement from the palace noted that Ruto launched the Kegonga Pillar Water Project in East Kuria.

He also inspected the Kuka Chini Irrigation Project and commissioned the Migori-Muhuru and Masara-Sori highways which have been stalled for a long time.

The construction works of the two roads have been stalled for about three years.

What was Ruto's promise to the residents of Homa Bay?

Although no specific timetable was given, Ruto announced his commitment turning Homa Bay into a city.

To achieve city status, Homa Bay must meet criteria such as a population of at least 250,000, the provision of quality services, and well-developed infrastructure.

The city must also obtain approval from the Senate Committee on Decentralization and demonstrate robust disaster management and waste disposal systems.
