Nairobi: Wife Accused of Killing Her Husband by Stabbing Him in Zimmerman Street

The sad incident happened at Ngamate Apartments in Zimmerman, Nairobi, on August 24, 2024.

Identified as Hegrah Bonareri Wanjiku, a mother of one, is suspected in the death of Patrick Mwaniki Njagi, a telephone operator in Nairobi's central business district (CBD).

Njagi was reportedly stabbed in the chest during a domestic dispute between the young couple.

The People Daily reported that an officer of the Department of Criminal Investigation (DCI), Corporal Charles Ombogo, briefed Chief Magistrate Mary Njagi about the details of the case.

Ombogo claimed that Sospeter Gaitho reported the gruesome killing to the Police Station Kasarani.

After informing the authorities about the stabbing incident at the residence, Gaitho immediately detained Wanjiku.

Ombogo said that Wanjiku will undergo a mental examination at the Mathari Mental Hospital before being charged.

How did the court decide on Wanjiku's release?

An autopsy is expected to be conducted on the deceased to confirm the exact cause of Mwaniki's death.

Additionally, blood samples collected from the crime scene will be analyzed by a state chemist for DNA testing.

The court accepted the seriousness of the offense and accepted the police's request to detain the suspect for 14 days.

Judge Mary Njagi ruled in favor of Wanjiku's detention noting that Wanjiku will remain at the Kasarani Police Station until September 10, when the court returns.

“This court has accepted the request of the officer considering the seriousness of the offense, noting that a person lost his life. I accept the request to be detained for 14 days,” the judge ordered.

A woman uses thugs to kill her husband in the case of another woman

In another case, a woman was arrested for using thugs to kill her husband following a domestic dispute.

The plot to kill the man was hatched after the couple lost their child sand and the child in the womb, causing the deceased to start planning to marry a second wife, according to the police.

The woman confessed, and said that she gave the three attackers KSh 105,000 after her dead husband repeatedly mocked her for not being a sex specialist.
