Lawyer Steve Ogolla, speaking on Citizen TV, emphasized that Raila he is in a good position to get that prestigious position due to his long commitment to democracy and political stability.

Ogolla argued that although the government's support may be seen as a formality, it is necessary because Raila, as a national candidate, needs the government's support.

“Raila is known to be a pro-democracy leader. I think his contribution to our democratic maturity is well documented and appreciated locally. He has international influence and deep networks across Africa and the world.

“And I think he has the ability to continue his campaign for the AUC chairmanship even without the support of the government. But because this must be a government-sponsored project, I think it is refreshing to see Kenyans coming together to push his ambition. I think he is a good shot, We wish him all the best, ” he said.

He also highlighted that Raila's role in the post-election negotiations, known as “handisheki,” has gained international respect and is considered a symbol of African leadership and leadership.

“The handshake has a certain international appeal. They have lent him the kind of legitimacy he needs as he aims for the AUC chairmanship. Because in the region and the global south, political stability is important for good governance and the fact that political leaders can build consensus quickly after elections , while domestically we can oppose, internationally, it looks like the action of the government and Africa also brings its political structure throughout the region,” explained Ogolla.
