On Thursday, August 29, dailies reported on various national issues, including the conviction of former Samburu governor Moses Lenolkulal, who was linked to a multi-million shilling scam.
Elsewhere, an officer of the General Service Unit (GSU) was arrested Narok for allegedly shooting his wife.
1. Daily Nation
The newspaper highlighted the sentence of former Samburu governor Moses Lenolkunal who was found guilty in a corruption case of KSh 83 million.
He was found guilty of receiving the money from the county government by distributing oil and oil products using his business associates.
Lenolkulal is awaiting sentencing today, August 29.
The former county chief was found guilty of using his property, Oryx Petrol Service, to supply the former to the devolved unit.
The money, according to testimony in court, was used by the former governor to buy major assets, which the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) seized.
One of the properties is in Karen, Nairobi, worth KSh 60 million.
Some money believed to be the proceeds of corruption were also found in an account he owns with the Commercial Bank of Kenya (KCB).
Nairobi Senior Chief Magistrate Thomas Nzioki was convinced beyond reasonable doubt that Lenolkulal acted in a conflict of interest by doing business with the county government using associates.
Others who were convinced along with Lenolkulal are Stephen Siringa, Daniel Nakuo, Josephine Naamo, Reuben Marumben, Milton Lenolngenje, Bernard Lesurmat, Lilian Balanga and Hesbon Ndathi.
The court has denied bail to the prisoners pending reduction and sentencing.
2. Nation Today
The newspaper reported on a near-fatal incident involving a senior officer GSU and his wife, who is a High Court lawyer.
Stephen Kiptanui Soi was arrested on Tuesday, August 27, after allegedly shooting his wife at their home in Ketete, Narok county.
According to the police, Soi is a licensed gun owner; he used his personal Ceska pistol to do the act.
At the scene, police found an additional magazine containing 12 rounds.
Police are investigating the circumstances that led to the shooting while the suspect is awaiting trial on charges of attempted murder.
Soi has had run-ins with the law before.
He was sentenced to 10 years in prison in 2021, with the option of paying a fine of KSh 103 million, after being found guilty of involvement in the Rio 2016 Olympic scandal.
Soi was an official of the National Olympic Committee of Kenya (Nock) at the time of the scandal.
The victim was rushed to the hospital, where police confirmed that he is in stable condition.
3. The Star
The newspaper reported on an unprecedented reception for President William Ruto and the people of Nyanza.
Ruto accompanied by his deputy Rigathi Gachagua is in the area for a four-day working visit.
They started their visit in Migori, where the leaders and residents of the area welcomed them in abundance.

Gazeti la Standard liliripoti kuhusu hatua ya muungano wa Azimio La Umoja chini ya kiongozi wa Wiper Kalonzo Musyoka kuunda Baraza la Mawaziri kivuli ili kudhibiti serikali.
Kalonzo alifichuliwa kama mrithi wa Raila Odinga katika mrengo wa kisiasa huku Odinga akipumzika kutoka kwa siasa za humu nchini ili kuangazia azma yake ya kuwa bara.
Kiongozi huyo wa Wiper alisema Wakenya wamebariki kuchukulia kwake jukumu la kiongozi wa upinzani.
