Speaking on Citizen TV on Thursday, August 29, Aukot claimed that Ruto he was not sincere in supporting Raila's ambition to compete for the position of chairman of the African Union Commission.
According to Aukot, Ruto is using Raila's AUC ambition to solve the problems facing his Kenya First administration.
The former presidential candidate claimed that the former prime minister would not have won the job of the continent, given that he allegedly lacked the necessary qualifications.
“Ruto said that in order for him to sit comfortably, he needed to bring Raila Odinga to the table because he has a flirtatious following. By the way, he has no loyalty to Raila because he will not get a place in the AUC, but William Ruto will say, you saw me doing everything I could, but everything failed. Raila he doesn't even have a reputation,” Aukot said.
In addition, Aukot accused people close to the ODM leader of lying to him about his chances of winning the AUC seat.
“The people around Raila Odinga are lying to him about the position of AUC. The position is not about personality but qualifications. Even Ruto's international image has a negative effect on him (Raila). The evidence shows that Raila is only being used politically,” he added.
Why Raila Odinga might lose the AUC seat
Meanwhile, diplomacy and governance analyst Ahmed Hashi does not see a victory for Raila in the upcoming AUC chairmanship vote.
He said all odds are already against the candidate Kenya whose bid was officially launched on Tuesday, August 27.
Hashi predicted a landslide victory for Mahamoud Ali Youssouf, the Djibouti candidate.
In his analysis, he claimed that Raila is one of the leaders that young Africans currently despise because they did not manage the African continent well in their various positions.
