In an incident on Tuesday, August 27 at night at the staff quarters of the Heni Clinic, the children were left alone by their mother, a nurse who had gone out for a short time to buy milk.
When he returned, he was met with the horrifying sight of the entire house engulfed in flames with children aged six and four inside.
According to the police report, the fire broke out at about 7:50 p.m. while the first floor of the workers' quarters, which had a wooden floor, was completely burnt.
“Police officers visited the scene and it was found that the fire started at around 1950 hours and burned the first floor of the staff quarters built with wooden floors,” read the police report in part.
Emergency personnel including the fire brigade from I turn it on they arrived at the scene and extinguished the fire, but they were too late to save the children.
The bodies of the young victims were removed from the scene and are currently kept in the mortuary of the Engineer Hospital, where they are awaiting surgery.
