- Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni caused a stir in Kenya on Tuesday after he attacked a member of parliament in the country
- He accused Embakasi East MP Babu Owino of collaborating with the opposition in Kampala to remove his leadership
- The Member of Parliament absolved himself of blame saying that his political activities depend on the well-being of the African community
Member of Parliament for Embakasi East Grandfather Owino has strongly opposed President Yoweri Museveni's remarks against him.
While attending the official launch of Raila Odinga's bid to become the chairman of the African Union Commission (AUC) in Nairobi, Museveni accused the MP of allegedly collaborating with the Ugandan opposition to oppose his administration.
The veteran head of state claimed that Babu was involved in many intelligence reports where he was found in a conspiracy against the government.
“There are some people from the group of Raila they don't know what they are doing, I am a user of intelligence services, so I always see reports that there is a person called Babu who is involved with groups that are against NRM, I have never accused Babu, but today I am doing so,” said Museveni.

But in his measured responses, Babu denied being involved in a conspiracy against Museveni, implying that he has only invested in the welfare of African society.
According to him, the challenges facing Kenyan households are similar to those of Uganda; therefore he is involved in finding a solution for them.
“As a young leader in the country KenyaI grew up in poverty, I know what it means to lack. If you tell me that you are hungry, I know the meaning of lack of food because I have experienced it. you tell me you have missed school fees, I will feel you because I know what missing school fees is.
As Babu Owino, I am in charge of a democratic society where a child in Kenya will get treatment, education and will get the same job. Likewise, a child in Uganda should receive the same treatment as a child in Kenya. For that reason, we must provide an alternative vision of leadership that will save Africans from the chains of oppression and the jaws of poverty,” he said.
